So today I would like to talk about how my project is going. For my project I am building a dog house where my dog Ollie can have his own little sleeping area during the winter and even in the summer. So far I have planned out all the materials and tools that I will need. I've been asking myself questions like, how to build the walls, floor and also the roof, so that I can have a better understanding from being more organized. For my dog house the tools I will need are simple "at home" tools like a hammer and essentially wood glue. I am very excited for my dog house to be done so that I can draw my murals on top of it and have fun in the building process.
Today I am going to talk about how my project is going so far. I havent really started it yet but I have started my miletone on the steps to success. I haven't completed alot but I am getting to the point where I am almost done my safety data sheets that I have to get done in order to start working with all of the big machines to star my dog house. There are a coupl o things that I am stuck on like getting the materials and where to get the tools specifically for this project but I know my class mates will help me out a little bit. Some ideas I have to move forward is just looking at my milestone and going down the list of what needs to happen and when it has to happen. My future plans for my project is to get it done by he end of decemeber when we come back from Christmas break.
For my project I am going to change up my project due to the time crunch that I have for making it. Instead I will be making a speacilized dog house for my puppy that has all of my art projects on it instead. Including a memory foam bed inside for him to be comfortable in while he is inside. I'm at the point where I am figuring out the measurements of the sides four sides of the dog house and deciding on why kind of art I would like to put onto the outsides and the inside. I haven't yet accomplished a lot of my project yet due to changing up the whole idea of what I am going to do but I will be accomplishing more in the next weeks blog post. I have been so excited to see the finished project so that I can take it home to my puppy Ollie for him to sleep in during the day, and also when it gets way to hot outside in the summer he will have somewhere to laze around in.
Yesterday the propel students did a research activity that was sort of like a competition between groups about knowledge and researching of course. we had to do things like tying a jig line on a fishing rod, speaking different languages and having to go say something to another teacher who could understand it, things about information and even tuning a guitar for a specific song. The group with the most completed categories won a prize which were Tim-bits from Tim Horton's.
Researching how to do things that I couldn't do from my own knowledge helped me to better understand how much easier it will be for me when I do my independent project when researching and when I need help with measurements and how many materials I need for it. An idea I have for my first project is building a playhouse where I can paint and doodle inside and out of it, where I can express all my ideas onto a playhouse wall. kind of like my own little art studio where I can go when I have the urge to just doodle anywhere I want. During this whole classroom building process I have learned alot of different ways of painting like "cutting in" with a paint brush and communicating with different store locations like Ikea, Shewin-Williams Paint, and Jysk. I also have learned alot about classoom communication with all of my classmates during the classroom building because this project involves alot of talking and solving proplems together even though not all of us are in the same groups.
Tips for the students coming into the Propel program next semester about buildng the classroom is communicating and alyas knowing there will be a new mistake everyday that will need to be fixed at the end of the day, if it is paint getting on the white board or on the ceiling. Anywhere paint cant get off easy will most likely be a problem to evenually solve. |
